Ping Pong Rules:

1. "P-I-N-G" before each match to decide who serves. Loser serves subsequent games.
2. Each Match will be best of 3 games played to 11, switch sides every game.
3. Switch Serves every 2 points (every point if game reaches deuce) and even if your oppenent is on their game point, they can still serve.
4. If ball goes past the table without hitting it, it is out of bouds (even if it hits the other player or their paddle)
5. If the ball scraps the net on the serve and lands in-bounds it's a "let" do the serve over.  You can have as many of these as you want.
6. You should probably make the ball leave your hand when serving, instead of hitting it right out of your hand, as that's the official way to play.  But you can decide whether or not to enforce that rule with your opponent at the start of the match.

You will have noticed a points score appear next to player names on the rankings page (if logged in). This is a trial points rating system based on the classic Elo system. Players will be awarded points for winning and lose points for losing depending on how difficult the system calculates your opponent to be. It will take a few games to settle down the scoring system. Currently the rating is displayed for information purposes only but in future it will be possible to arrange the ladder ranking system around this points score.
